New Years Resolutions.

Some people have made it customary to make New Year’s resolutions. I’m not against them or anything but I usually end up breaking mine so I no longer write them.

People often ask “what are your new year’s resolutions?” and I say “I don’t make any… I don’t want to break them and be upset afterwords.” So people then proceed to tell me that I have no goals, not true. I don’t understand why we must wait till the New Year to make resolutions. Why can’t we change our lives and better them any time we want? I want to eat healthier… why not start now instead of waiting for 2010? What makes January 1, 2009 better than March 15, 2009?

I get it to some extent… a New Year means new beginnings but why can’t we make these new beginnings all throughout the year? Can you imagine what it would be like if everyone treated everyday of the year as New Year’s Day, a new chance to do something that they hadn’t done before. Instead we have one New Year’s Day where everyone makes resolutions to make their lives a bit better only for most of us to fail before the month is over.

p.s. 4 people were murdered in the city I live in, 1 in a fight, 3 in a shooting all on New Year’s Day… what a great way to start a new year… eh?
p.p.s. Oh and I just wanted to add... I don't make New Year's Resolutions because I'm LAZY!
